The most effective way to stop animals from going into shelters is spay/neuter. Communities spend millions of dollars to control unwanted animals. It costs Hillsborough County an average of $160 for every animal it takes in. Irresponsible breeding contributes to the problem of dog bites and attacks.

Hillsborough County Sterilization Rebate Program Hillsborough County has initiated a Spay and Neuter Rebate Program to assist low income residents to have their pet dogs and cats fixed. If you qualify, a voucher for each animal and a list of participating veterinarians will be mailed to you.
